Drinks with Friends

Cocktails

There’s a really neat cocktail bar in town called Cheshire. It markets itself as a pre-Prohibition Era style establishment, but we researched some of the drinks and found out that many of them were developed long after Prohibition. The bar’s primary charm, though, comes from the mixologists (and I don’t use that word lightly) themselves. Watching them make drinks and peel fresh fruit for garnish is a bit like watching a Food Network show; there’s nothing and then poof, magic.

Eat, Drink, and Take Pictures

A good portion of the last 24 hours have centered around food and drink, though not in that order. Last night, a group of us went to Flight Wine Bar for, you guessed it, flights of wine. All of Flight’s flights (haha) come in groups of three, which meant we had quite a lot of wine on the table.

Flights at Flight

Being a place that specializes in wine, Flight also has more options that one could possibly go through. The ladder is my favorite part.

Wine Collection

A couple days ago I came across a recipe for vegan shawarma, which was really exciting because shawarma was my favorite Israeli dish before I stopped eating red meat a few years ago. And wow, was this good! I served it on a bed of lettuce with kalamata olives and delicious tzatziki on the side.

Dinner

Towards the back of the plate is a mixture of sweet potatoes, mushrooms, kale, and red quinoa. Also rather delicious.

Sitting on the Porch in the Rain

There is no purpose to this post except to say that I am sitting on the porch in the dark, in a torrential downpour, having a nice summer beverage, remaining dry, and couldn’t be more content.

Last night I ran a 29:45 at the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge, which wasn’t the time I thought I could run before I hurt my knee, but was faster than I’d run while training. I came in 279th for women, which was pretty exciting. My boyfriend is a real runner and came in 13th overall. He’s a had a rough year of injuries and definitely deserves it!
